We are a
combination department in developing community just outside Ashland in
Boyd County Kentucky. Our response area covers everything from a
steel mill, major interstate highways, shopping centers, rural area's,
as well as upscale housing developments. In our surrounding
jurisdictions we have everything from a oil refinery to rural farm land
to manufacturing facilities. We have a 3 paid Full-Time employees as
well as 4 part time employees that mainly work evening shifts staffing
our station. We responded to over 450 calls a year in 2007 ranging
from hazmat to medical assistance to house fires. We are involved
in mutual aid agreements with several surrounding departments. Our
hazmat team provides coverage to portions of Carter county threw a
mutual aid agreement with them. We also are Utilizing a mutual aid
agreement with England Hill on I64 due to the major road construction
that is occurring there that can delay our response to incidents near
the 185mm. On structure fires we have agreements with East
Fork and Summit-Ironville to provide Automatic Mutual aid of an engine
company and a tanker on all reported fires within or involving a
structure. |
